FAQs
What sort of standards do the businesses on this list meet?
Our Vegan-Friendly Info Flyer, which is adopted by businesses in the Most Vegan-Friendly and Very Vegan-Friendly categories, outlines the information we've shared with businesses and what we've asked of them. For example, at this time we aren't requiring participating businesses to eliminate shared equipment (ex: fryers), but we have asked them to inform their guests of any shared equipment use. We hope that as we build relationships and plant-based eating continues to grow that we'll be able to ask more of participants, but we feel this is a good place to start and hope you will agree.
How can you help my business better serve customers looking for plant-based options?
We're so glad you asked! Check out our quick info sheet and then get in touch with us. We really want to make our region an inclusive and welcoming place where businesses are thriving, so we look forward to helping you expand your customer base.
Where can I find reviews of these restaurants?
Compassionate Dining makes every effort to update restaurant listings on Happy Cow; however, you can also find reviews on the usual suspects (Google, Yelp, etc.)
What should I do if I have a negative experience at a business listed on this website specifically related to the purchase of a vegan item?
We encourage you to reach out one-on-one to the business to have a conversation or to us (compassionatedining@gmail.com) to tell us about your experience so that we can work constructively with the business. Negative reviews, while sometimes justified, aren't always the best way to get improvements. Nobody is perfect all the time, we want to respect the efforts that are being made, and, especially in small towns where a little negative publicity can really hurt a business, we'd like to find ways to improve the experience for everyone going forward before being outwardly critical on social media, review sites, etc.
